Curriculum Example: The Fifteenth Amendment
Connection to IdealThis amendment gave black men the opportunity to have their voices heard and to select who they want to represent them in the government. Previously, black men were not permitted to vote. Only white men who were citizens had the privilege. But when slavery was abolished, black men were promised this right under the law, and it could not be violated under any terms.

Why?
